Seems he had time to practice his small arms skills.
Guy was a nut, amongst nuts. With the training he had, he could cover his actions to the point where no one would suspect him of anything.

While I do not know for how long this man may have been providing psychiatric services for the Army, I’d wager to bet he had access to lists of soldiers who were getting ready to be deployed overseas - could be useful information for his masters.

Ummmm, I would imagine he received alot of info from men he was treating, and he must have had access to material the enemy would like to have.
