yes sir, what I heard was he was a civilian police officer and was the first cop on scene. I dont know if he was responding to a shots fired call or he was there for some other reason, but it seems clear he was the one who put some bullets into the terrorist.

I wish we had more info on whether or not there was more than one shooter. Seems hard to believe one guy shot over 40 people with two handguns....
