When I entered the Air Force in 1973, at the Oakland CA induction center they sat us down with a sheet listing about 100 organizations. We had to put a check mark in the box next to any one of those organizations in which we had ever held membership, or had had any dealings with.
Do they still do the same?
I remember that on that list were even organizations like the John Birch Society. !!
When I was being evaluated for a security clearance at Whiteman AFB, Missouri in 1974, I was asked about an assignment I had completed in the 8th Grade (!!!), a report on the American labor movement. My answer was simply, that if I remembered correctly, that is what I was assigned, that's all, it was not a subject of my choice or my own interest. No other questions were asked.
Do military authorities still go back that far in people's lives when evaluating people for sensitive positions?

The [military] officials spoke on condition of anonymity because military records are confidential. Does this bother anybody, that both Fox and these military guys don't give a damn about confidentiality procedures?

Wish I could find the post from a Freeper earlier today who right off the bat said something about this attack having a connection to Va. Tech - (something like they all do)...as if there is some Muslim Mosque connection near Va. TEch? (Think the poster was suspecting even before we knew the facts that the shooter (or shooters) were Muslim.

Why are these “officials” talking about confidential military records so quickly?
