Coburn, McCain Endorse Fiorina Senate Bid
RedState ^ | November 5, 2009 | James Richardson

Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO-turned-McCain campaign advisor and surrogate, announced on Thursday the endorsements of eight Republican Senators, including conservative stalwart Senator Tom Coburn.

“Our nation is facing serious economic challengers because we keep rehiring the same failed career politicians who have proven themselves incapable of making hard choices,” read Coburn’s statement. “Carly’s common sense and fiscal conservatism will be a welcome addition to the United States Senate. I am glad to offer her my endorsement.”

Today’s announcement by Fiorina, who only formally announced her bid for Senate on Wednesday, comes on the heels of Senator Jim Demint’s endorsement of Fiorina’s Republican primary opponent, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore.

In addition to Coburn, Senators Susan Collins, Lindsey Graham, Jon Kyl, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, and Olympia Snowe endorsed the former Silicon Valley executive.

WTF?! I like Tom Coburn a lot. He, along with Demint and Sessions, seem to be the only real men left standing on the GOP side of the aisle. But sometimes he does stuff like this (allying with Graham-nesty) and it makes me wonder what he's thinking/smoking.

“Coburn, Senators Susan Collins, Lindsey Graham, Jon Kyl, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, and Olympia Snowe”

A herd of RINO’s supporting a RINO, go figure.

I like Carly Fiorina. The political environment is such that someone who is a hardline conservative could not be elected in California. Maybe 20 years ago, but not today.

The idea that anyone is going to abolish abortion in California is a pipe dream.

I like Tom Coburn too. But he seems to have a soft spot for RINOs. Didn't he also get on the McCain bandwagon fairly early?

With that kind of track record, I'm more likely to take advice from Jeff Sessions or Jim DeMint.

I wish these people would but out on local primary fights, whether or not they’re taking sides with a RINO or conservative.

The RINOs are all lining up behind the RINO against the conservative.

NY 23 was just the undercard with two fairly bad candidates (Hoff and Dede).

Now it’s time for THE MAIN EVENT.

We now have 2 pretty good candidates from each camp. I’m going with Fiorina. Many will go with Devore.

But at least we have a primary. Let’s shake hands, come out fighting and may the best candidate win.

Just what we need. Another McCain butt kisser in the senate. I bet this really makes Lindy jealous as hell!

By the way, McCain, do you wonder what relation the Ft. Hood soldier is to your friend in the white house?

Coburn probably knows something we don’t. I have a hard time seeing him as a RINO - although I also have a hard time seeing him back a pro-abort.

Hmmmm, your reasoning sounds familiar...

I like Carly Fiorina Doug Hoffman. The political environment is such that someone who is a hardline conservative could not be elected in California New York. Maybe 20 years ago, but not today.

No, Hoffman wasn't elected, but the non-Dim vote in NY-23 exceeded 50%. Looks like much the same scenario being set up in Cal, with a true conservative (DeVore) being challenged by a RINO.

Just sayin'...

If a candidate can't defend the most vulnerable and innocent of all human life, he/she has no business representing anyone. especially not conservatives.

Carly Fiorina is pro-abortion and would never get my vote for any position of public trust. Fiorina is despicable and needs to join the Democratic Party.

You can count on one hand the number of Senators that are not “bought and paid for” CORRUPT. When you see this type of action on behalf of a supposed Conservative... you know that he or she is a liar and is not a real Conservative... they only play one for the money and power.

I welcome ANY republican who can beat the witch Barbara Boxer.

However I want to see the nominee selected via a primary in CA and any where else.

We could have avoided the defeat of conservative Doug Hoffman if the selection was made by republican voters in a primary.

Are you OK with another senate term of 6 years for Boxer?

Something similar was done when Crist announced for the Senate to fill Martinez seat in Florida. The RSCC barely gave Crist time to complete his announcement before they endorsed him. Problem is, there is another Republican in Florida with Senatorial ambitions. Apparently, the RSCC is totally ignorant of local state issues and also believes the local state voters are too stupid to make a choice. We will have a primary in Florida and either Crist or Rubio will be the Republican nominee. Untl then, the RNC needs to stay out of the mix. This goes for elections in every state.

The story is that the RNSC doesn’t believe that Fiorina can beat Boxer. I guess they want her to have a vanity candidacy so she’ll raise more funds in the future. If we’re going to lose, why not run a conservative like Devore?
