You could not be more wrong. Both MD and DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) learn the same subjects in medical school and both receive the same specialty tests to practice medicine.
According to my family members and friends in the medical field, ODs are generally those that could not get into med school. They’re quite often quacks and are to be avoided. I have no idea if this is truly the case, but I follow their advice and avoid them.
I am biased, i will admit.
But no, they are not the same.
