Well the troops aren’t living humans to him, people’s sons and daughters and fathers and brothers. They’re simply part of his political equation. If he’s not the antichrist, the fact that he’s been embraced by so many in this country surely shows how easy it will be when the real one shows up. The antichrist will have no humanity either, just a black hole where his soul should be.
