MADISON, Wisconsin – President Obama marked the first anniversary of his election on Wednesday by calling on states to toughen their education standards – and wound up calling on parents to toughen theirs, too, as he confessed that his 11-year-old daughter, Malia, recently got a 73 on her science test.

And she was rewarded by getting to go to a Miley Cyrus concert on Tuesday night? What, no school the next day? Geesh, is no one figuring out the problem here?

I thought it was every father’s dream that their children would do better than them in school... so why is 0 taking his daughter to task for besting his grades?

You want to make schools better and teach our children more? The Tenecious 3-Step Solution:

1) The Fed relinquishes all control, funding and control of public schools. The States take over their own schools. Cut Federal Income taxes in the amount equal to Federal Education Spending so the states may take up the slack.

2) Make it illegal to have government workers, including teachers in a Union.

3) Seniors must past a standardized test before graduation that includes (among other things) studies from a mandatory History Class about our Constitution, Federalists Papers, Anti-Federalist Papers, etc.

Why it works....If states run their own schools, there would be real competition. People consider schools when they choose where to work and live.

If there are no Unions and teaching jobs, salaries and benefits to protect, teachers can focus on teaching instead of political bureaucratic twister teases for showy edumacation.

Finally, Kids and most adults my age know little about the founding of our nation, our actual charter declared, our constitution, what our nation stands for and what thought went into the way our nation was founded. There is no way to preserve our way of life if we don't know what our way of life was suppose to be. It was very successful at one one time (and still is today). But we are in a bad drift away from the values this nation were founded on. Unfortunately, most of my generation (Gen-X) and nearly all of generations to follow mine or historically ignorant. They do not know what to fight for as a result of the BS they are learning in schools today.

BTW, did you see that someone in the comments of that article said that it’s a “future couch moment”? When the kid grows up and sits a therapist’s couch, this will be a moment she talks about.

Why does this remind me of that scene in Clueless where the kid negotiates her grades higher and her father says he couldn’t be prouder than if she actually earned them.

Personnally I think most of us would be far mlore interested in knowing what his test scores and grades were so we would have a real look at how “brilliant” he is.
