Steele is right. I don’t like Snowe’s views most of the time, but she has been elected multiple times by the Republicans in hir state. Who’s to say they can’t do that?

The RNC, for one. If she does not vote with the Republicans while adhering to the platform, she is in the wrong party. Her key votes go too consistently the wrong way.

You are right - Snowe has been sent to the Senate by the voters of Maine since 1995.

Michael Steele has been RNC Chairman since January 2009 in the wake of Obama’s annointing.

I don’t believe he has the right to dump all GOP sitting Senators & Representatives - his job is to encourage good candidates to run in the primaries and help those selected by the voters to win in the general elections.

Maine has a huge number of dems that routinely vote for Snowe. She faces almost NO opposition from either the dems or the lone die conservative. I just wish she would call herself what she is a dem in werid labelling. The northeast for DECADES has been the ‘Rockefeller’ wing of the party and frankly I wish they would all just take a hike

I disagree that Steele is right. What they are doing wrong is sticking with party members when they stray (maybe even especially if they stray) from the Party Platform. If a conservative party member wanted to challenge Snowe (for example) in a primary, the RNC would automatically throw their weight behind the incumbent RINO. Evidence of this is abundant in the NY-23 race.

You know it, but I'm gonna say it again, the problem with the Party leadership is that they put Party before principle.
