Interesting. I only saw Fr. Pavone once in person. Back when we were in living in Westchester, he was invited to preach on abortion at our parish church at the Sunday Mass.

He gave an excellent sermon. What I still remember is that he said that even women who had multiple abortions should be the objects of our prayer, because it is never too late to confess our sins and amend our lives.

That was back at a time when not much was being heard on the subject from Catholic pulpits. In fact, pro-life was almost entirely a lay movement then.

He is a wonderful priest. I think one of the reasons he doesn’t get involved with saying the Rosary is because he works with so many differing faiths all the time. But it was funny ... I was thinking of him as a Catholic rock star (sort of) before he came out and I was all prepared to belt out the Rosary with him leading and the heavens getting all fired up, but he just walked away to the side of the group. It caught me by surprise. That’s cool you got to see him “live” too.
