Gotta say, props to the UK for extraditing him so quickly.

I wonder if dad was surprised that the local LE thought that what he’s done is a bad thing?

If he doesn't know, he's soon to be disabused of his ignorance. He's on his way to Sheriff Joe's slammer.

I don’t know why he came to this country if what he wanted was that abused-woman life for his daughter?

OK, he wan't extradited, he never made it into the UK:

Interviewed on arrival, Mr Almaleki told UK Border Agency officers that he was planning to spend a week visiting cousins in Glasgow, but he was denied entry because he had only $400 (£245) cash with him and his nominated sponsor in the UK was unemployed.

Officers also discovered on questioning Mr Almaleki that he lived in Arizona with his wife and seven children but when they tried to organise his return to the US they were told that he was wanted for assault over the attack on his daughter.

The British have ALWAYS maintained standards. The story of the commanding officer in India who was greeted warmly by the local officials as a funeral pyre was being prepared for the passing of the maharajah. As the flames were being lighted, a young and beautiful woman was being held up (obviously drugged). It was, so the story goes, the wife of the deceased who was expected to throw herself on the pyre and die the next morning as the fire would be hot enough to cremate the remains and take her life instantly. The commanding officer was horrified and protested. The local official tried to calm him by saying it is just our custom. Do not be alarmed.

The next morning in the predawn hours there was a flurry of hammering and sawing. As the sun started to come up it was obvious a gallows had been built. When the locals showed up for the funeral, the commanding officer called the local officials over and said in a very loud voice, “We, in England, have a charming custom as well. The moment the wife of the deceased is thrown upon the pyre, we will immediately hang the individuals responsible.”

I gather the young woman's life was spared. Oh, for the good old days — when standards of decency were maintained in the rank and file of the British. I miss those days of "mad dogs and Englishmen going out in the noonday sun".
