Scozzafava is a perfect example of an all-too-common phenomenon here in Western Pennsylvania: candidates who are really Democrats, but who choose to run under the Republican banner because the Democrat slot is taken. It happens because our local GOP leadership is too weak-minded to spot what they are up to and call them on it. Generally they go back to being Democrats at their earliest opportunity.

Newt only cares about the party... I'm beginning to think that too many national Republicans see it all much like a football game, a contest with winning or losing having no real meaning. Meanwhile real Americans' freedoms and financial lives are dramatically affected by their indifference.

IF Newt is truly as dumb as he sounds here... no wonder he was so thoroughly trounced by the Clinton white house.
To: Cuttnhorse
Newt is the Republican Al Gore.

I guess if 0bama said he was a Republican, Newt would endorse him as well. "Who me? I'm a Republican. Yeah, that's it, I'm a Republican."

Not just Newt, did you read what Pete Sessions aid had to say about their support? they thought Dede was "just" a typical NE liberal Republican like Susan Collins......
clueless... the whole danged party is clueless.

That is closer to the truth than you would like.
How many did NOT get their share of Porkulus? or the other perks and pork earmarks?
They share. The 'winners' just get a bigger share, until the other team wins. But they all get a share.

"How could she have accepted all that support?"Newt asks that after Jeffords and Specter? Is he that naive? Or just another craven opportunist trying to save face?

he needs to start reading here and maybe he’d have a little more knowledge and a much better feeling of the pulse of the people. Nah,we’re just a fringe group and don’t matter at all.

A “fringe group” that is willing to do whatever it takes to save this country from it’s current path to socialist hell. Unlike the Newt’s of the world.

Gingrich knew exactly what he was doing endorsing her. He is a Scozzafava Republican.

There comes a time for the old guard to step down.
If timed correctly, it leaves them with their past accomplishments and honor intact. However, when timed incorrectly, it soils everything they have done and makes them look like doddering old fools who are late to pasture.
newt, can you guess which category you fall into. I’ll give you a hint...
Move along Bossy.

He (and Boehner, and Pete Sessions) looked at Scozzafava’s voting record—that’s why they backed her so strongly.
Evidently they were excited that there was a republican candidate who held all those “enlightened” and “sophisticated” leftist views—they called her the future of the GOP.
