Americans more interested in Rice memoir than Bush's, Palin's coming books

Americans are looking forward to former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's memoir the most out of a slew of autobiographies from Republicans set to hit bookshelves soon.

Interest in Rice's book leads interest in those by her former bosses, former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney, as well as the memoir to be published this month by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), according to a poll.

Twenty-two percent of Americans said they're most likely to read Rice's book, according to a poll commissioned by the CBS news program "60 Minutes" and the magazine Vanity Fair.

Eleven percent said they are interested in reading Bush's book, followed by 9 percent for Palin, 7 percent for former first lady Laura Bush and 4 percent for Cheney.

Forty-six percent of those surveyed said they have interest in none of those books.

Among Republicans who were surveyed, Rice still leads the pack, but GOPers were more enthusiastic about the Bush and Palin memoirs, which each received interest from 17 percent of Republicans surveyed.

The poll, which was conducted by the CBS News Election and Survey Unit from Oct. 5 through 8, surveyed 829 respondents nationwide.

While it might be interesting to read Rice's bio, I'll wait to see the sales numbers.

lol....when sales numbers are determined by polls I'll believe it. But I think the poll was purposely skewed somehow to minimize the tremendous press and advance sales that Sarah Palin's book is generating.

So, how many millions in advance copies has she sold? Seems to me Palin has most already sold.

A poll conducted by 60 Minutes and Vanity Fair? Oh, sure.

Whenever I see the name of that magazine, I think of the passage from Bunyan’s “Pilgrim’s Progress,” after which it was named, and never more aptly than in recent years:

Then I saw in my dream, that, when they were got out of the wilderness, they presently saw a town before
them, and the name of that town is Vanity; and at the town there is a fair kept, called Vanity Fair. It is kept
all the year long. It beareth the name of Vanity Fair, because the town where it is kept is lighter than
vanity, and also because all that is there sold, or that cometh thither, is vanity; as is the saying of the Wise,
“All that cometh is vanity” (Eccles. 1; 2:11, 17; Isa. 40:17).

This fair is no new-erected business, but a thing of ancient standing. I will show you the original of it.
Almost five thousand years ago, there were pilgrims walking to the Celestial City, as these two honest persons
are; and Beelzebub, Apollyon, and Legion, with their companions, perceiving by the path that the pilgrims
made that their way to the city lay through this town of Vanity, they contrived here to set up a fair; a fair
wherein should be sold all sorts of vanity, and that it should last all the year long. Therefore at this fair are
all such merchandise sold as houses, lands, trades, places, honors, preferments, titles, countries, kingdoms,
lusts, pleasures, and delights of all sorts, as whores, bawds, wives, husbands, children, masters, servants,
lives, blood, bodies, souls, silver, gold, pearls, precious stones, and what not.

And, moreover, at this fair there are at all times to be seen jugglings, cheats, games, plays, fools, apes, knaves,
and rogues, and that of every kind.

Here are to be seen, too, and that for nothing, thefts, murders, adulteries, false swearers, and that of a bloodred
color.

The only poll that counts, IMHO, is how many books are sold. Period. You can ask all the people you want to what books they “plan” to read, but when the rubber hits the road I'll stick with how many are sold.

It's the ol’ “put your money where your mouth is” policy that subscribe to in matters like this!

The Hill and Politico are broadsides that pass for political thought in Decomcrat circles. Their idiccy is boundless. Palin will outsell Condi by at least 10-1.

“....according to a poll commissioned by the CBS news program “60 Minutes” and the magazine Vanity Fair.”

....I got a poll for both these Lib Dem fellow travelers:
0....CBS goes broke first
0....Vanity Fair goes broke first
0....Both go broke at same time

cording to a poll commissioned by the CBS news program "60 Minutes" and the magazine Vanity Fair.

LOL! What about the sales numbers? The rest doesn't matter. Rice and Bush don't even garner close to the interest Palin does.

This is another of the endless attacks on Gov.Palin by coward Romney.

It is amazing how fearful the left is of Palin and the absurd lengths they will go to to try to discredit her.

Who ever heard of a poll to see who is interested in upcoming books by Republicans? This is hilarious.

But in true drive-by fashion, no-one in the press will ever revisit this a year from now to see how actual sale numbers compared with this faux poll.
