Put this under the heading of a “reality-based prejudice”.
There are four kinds of anti-group prejudice. Two are unfair, and two are fair.
The two kinds that are unfair are based on ignorance and an effort to dehumanize a group. They are more efforts to take pride in “our side”, by saying “We are special. Everyone else isn’t.” And the effort to proclaim another group “the enemy”. “They don’t feel pain like we do, because they are inferior. Their lives are worth less than ours.”
The two fair kinds of anti-group prejudice are first, when that group tries to protect members who are offensive and criminal, and who have misbehaved in the greater society, from punishment by society, solely because they belong to the group.
When people do this, it legitimizes criticizing the entire group, because they embrace injustice.
The other fair kind of prejudice is when bad behavior is endorsed by the group, even while denying it. A superb example is a Muslim man who holds aloft a sign saying, “Kill those who say Islam is not a religion of Peace!” The Koran says many violent things; but how many Muslims will denounce those things as wrong?
While all groups can have an offensive individual, unless they are willing to stand up and condemn such things first, and loudly, and without reservation, they create legitimate prejudice against their entire group.
And whining that such prejudice isn’t fair means nothing, because it is fair. Notice that when cornered to oppose Islamic terrorism, Muslims will not do so. If forced, they will oppose “all” terrorism, but never, specifically, Muslim terrorism. Then often they will try to redefine terrorism as not including terrorist acts against their hated enemies, or even to brand military actions against terrorism as “terrorism” also.
This wholly legitimizes *any* prejudice that *anyone* wants to have against Muslims, because turnabout is fair play. You lose the right to be offended, when you are the most offensive.
So this director is correct. He does not want to offend Muslims, because they are an immature, violent and prejudiced people. To treat them with fairness and justice is improper, because they do not respect fairness or justice to others. So they are relegated to the level of barbarians, deserving no place at the table of civilized people.
This is precisely where the left does not understand Conservatives in general.
I NEVER noticed that it was a black man and a Jewish man saving the world. To me it was just two men who come from different places, who together use their own ingenuity, skills and talent to save the day.
