A Massachusetts man was fired from a national retail corporation because of his traditional beliefs on same-sex marriage. Peter Vadala was formally dismissed from his job as second deputy manager of the Brookstone store at Bostons Logan Airport on August 12, 2009, after a supervisor reported him to Human Resources regarding an incident two days earlier.

Ahh, but same-sex marriage is legal in Mass, giving the employer now grounds to declare language opposed to legal norms "hostile" in the private workplace. First Amendment arguments are now more difficult.
Conservatives not wanting to join the battles of cultural warfare must take note of this. It is not enough to say, "I don't care for gay marriage myself, but what is it to me if the state allows gay marriage. It won't affect me."
It will affect you, as the Brookstone case illustrates. Another place where this will have a huge secondary effect is in the public schools, where teachers in states with special homosexual rights laws will now be COMPELLED to teach and indoctrinate a pro-homosexual world view, and students will be COMPELLED to echo that view, and FORBIDDEN to voice contrary views.
Homosexual rights laws have sweeping effects.
You are very wrong. All he did was state his opinion! Nothing more! His termination isn’t justified by ANY facts available in the article.
Next time I’m there I’ll be sure to stop by that store and let them no that I oppose this “same sex” mock of marriage as well, and that I object to this firing and will be not buying from any Brookstone outlet any more.
Gotta love that tolerance!
“The correct response should have been ‘good luck’.”
Wrong, no where under ANY law (or corporate policy) is it forbidden to respond, when pressed, with your opinion!
This is life in Amerika as the libs envision it. From sea to shining sea of people terrified to ever express their true thoughts.
Welcome home, Obambi and friends.
READ THE LETTER. It has the Human Resources Managers Name, phone number(with direct extension.)
"In accordance with company policy" is not the same as "justified." Company policy may be evil. If it is, market forces should be brought to bear.

Yes, but he wasn’t specifically asked for his opinion. He was led into giving it. That’s what put him in jeopardy.
If, after she said she was “marrying” a woman, he simply said, “well, good luck” (not “congratulations”), he would have been okay, and at the same time gave her a hint of his position. Plus, my guess is that “good luck” would have ticked her off and she would have eventually just asked him his opinion. Which would then put him in the clear.
But hey, he’s just a kid, and he’s learned a great lesson here. It’ll probably be one of the best learning experiences he’ll ever have.
According to some, she had a right to pester him, but he had no right to respond.
"Legal" is like the speed limit and I can express when I disagree.
From their website. (They say they don’t discriminate in their hiring but I don’t see many older people working there. No Muslims either.)

COWER FROM THE DEVIL????!!!???... This is a policy issue for a business....if you wanna go this way, alright....this kid did not cower from the devil, kudo’s for him...but he paid a price for confronting the devil, he lost his job..with all due respect for you and your religious beliefs, you are an idiot....
Man-woman marriage is NOT just a “Christian” belief. Almost every religion views marriage this way and I believed it before I became a Christian.
“Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
I believe this is a foretelling of AIDS.”
Really??
A minority of AIDs victims are heterosexuals and innocent children.
How do you explain why straight people and children received a “due penalty for their error”?
