KABUL, Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah, the chief rival to President Hamid Karzai, plans to announce on Sunday his decision to withdraw from the Nov. 7 Afghan runoff election, handing a new five-year term to Mr. Karzai but potentially damaging the governments credibility, according to Western diplomats here and people close to Mr. Abdullah.
But Mr. Abdullah seemed to be keeping his options open until the last second, as he has done through the Afghan political crisis. Those close to him, speaking on condition of anonymity on Saturday, said Mr. Abdullah was still trying to decide whether to publicly denounce Mr. Karzai, whom he has accused of stealing the Aug. 20 election, or to step down without a fight.

Maybe he didn’t want to take part in a pre-determined farce. Then again, Obama might not have offered him enough money under the table to take a dive.
I guess that endorsement from Newt didn’t do the trick.
The Kenyan’s effort to remove Karzai goes poof.
What now genius?
First De De now Abdullah Abdullah. I guess having a name that makes you sound as if you are stuttering is not the way to win an election.

The goal of this predetermined farce run-off wasn’t to remove our puppet Karzai but to boost his legitimacy.
Abdullah Scozzafava Abdullah.
It's better for A.A. to remove himself from the election (and keep his options open) rather than to participate and lose for sure.
I think he knows his countrymen only too well and understands that election that was stolen once can be stolen twice. But even if he loses fairly, it's always better to not lose at all, claiming all kinds of things after the fact - and those claims, being unrealized possibilities, can never be verified.

I bet he was paid off to drop out.
Zero told him to drop out so he can continue to beat the “Afghanistan has an illegitimate government” drum.
Zero needs a good excuse to pull out.
“..remove our puppet Karzai but to boost his legitimacy.”
Dunno...the Kenyan’s boys were signaling pretty clearly that Karzai was corrupt. Not to mention the leak about his brother, the opium lord, working for the CIA.
You may be overthinking this one.
AS good excuse to pull out for Ozero would be that he doesn’t want to give the troops that are there the support they need. Time for him to s—t or get off the pot!
Dr. Abdullah, a smart man, was pivotal in 2001 in harnessing the Northern Alliance to our SF teams.
He also knows that if a NonPathan is King of Kabul, there is civil war. Despite being half Pathan himself from the North, Abdullah is considered a Tajik by Pathans.
Anyway, what this points out was the utter incompetency of the Obamawallahs in creating this whole kerfuffle for no reason whatsoever. A lot of sound and fury signifying nothing but political machinations, that too incompetent ones by the fabled Rahm/Axelrod/Pflouffe and Obama and Biden. Looks like Hillary stayed well out this imbroglio.
So we’re back where we were this summer. Bravo!
Thanks.
