Yes, I got the year wrong. Bush Sr. was happy to use AQ against the Russians, and Clinton couldn't be bothered with foreign policy, other than using it to make himself look good.

As for me, I'd be fine with us leaving Afghanistan. Too much PC BS keeping us from hammering the enemy into the dirt.
