The singer died on the way to the hospital from her wounds. The coyotes had bitten her many times and the paramedics said she was in critical condition when they found her and she had lost a lot of blood.

Sad Canada ping :(
coyotes? or dingos? (or do dingos discriminate based on age?)
I wonder if these coyotes had rabies or something.
Back when my kids were little I was working on a farm in SE Idaho. My bro had come over with his little kids and we were all (wives, too) out working the spud harvest. There had been a pack of five coyotes hanging around the back edge of the stubble field behind where we were. Someone noticed the kids were gone. They were spotted headed across the stubble, straight for the coyotes. It was a mad scramble to get the gun from behind the seat of the truck and go like hell for those kids. Scared the crap out of all of us.
yes she had lovely voice
Not necessarily. Coyotes are opportunists.
When visiting friends in Wyoming (30 miles north of Elk Mountain), my friends lent me a .44 magnum. I was taking a long walk of 64 miles over three days back to Elk Mountain where my vehicle was being repaired at a garage just south of the 80 interchange.
I really thought it was for bear or cougar, but they insisted that coyotes in numbers were what I'd have to look out for.
I hate coyotes. Here in Illinois it’s open season on coyotes pretty much all year round. Truly loathesome creatures. They are only good for eating offal.
I hear coyotes nearly every night and I couldn’t agree with you more. I never saw a coyote when I was a child and now they are everywhere. They are loathsome creatures in the numbers that now exist....their cries sound like absolute evil to me, but my husband thinks they sound wonderful. Go figure. I was stunned when I saw people feeding them like pets in Griffith Park in LA. I grew up on a farm and wild animals are wild animals....they kill the domestic ones..domestic animals we should always be cautious of...wild animals are an entirely different matter.
mayay the dingo ate yo bay-bay...
I have never been attacked although now that I think about it, my Mother and Sisters were attacked by wild hogs back around 1950. They had to climb trees and stay in them for some time.
I always carry a pistol when walking in the woods or even walking around the yard. I live in a really rural area. Typically I carry a Walther PP in .22 LR tho sometimes I carry a .380. They will both fit in a pocket. Not powerful but powerful enough.
You just never can be too careful. Probably two legged critters are more dangerous than four legged.
Wouldn't matter. She was in Canada.
I never thought coyotes would attack humans. Relatives in New Hampshire recently told me of coyotes attacking every domestic animal in sight, particularly cats. Feeding any kind of wild animal is insane. It reminds me of years ago when on a camping trip, I saw a family trying to feed black bears peanuts. Wild animals are best admired from afar.
We had problems a few years back with the coyotes, in packs, tracking people on our (dirt) roads.
While I had only one shot at one (Across the wife in the passenger seat through a closed window on the way back home from dinner: I passed it up.),my neighbors managed to swap from rifle practice to varmint hunting, and the population is still probably around, but stays well out of the way.
Which works for me, since they eat things that I don’t need near the house.
As for the woman, when I go into our woods, I take the MAC, with 60 rounds of 7.62x39, the always carried .40 pistol, and two dogs. Anything that can get through that’ll be someone else’s problem, but I don’t normally miss 71 shots, so I don’t worry.
Why would anyone venture forth without protection?
(And I do know she’s Canadian: reason to not venture forth.)
I live in a city, but near a mountain preserve. We have seen coyotes boldly come out of the preserve and right down into the neighborhoods. My wife was out walking our boxer recently and two walked not far from them right into the neighborhood. She had planned to go down the same street, but then looked up into the preserve, and there was a third coyote standing and watching. She and the dog turned tail and headed straight home.
There are stories here of coyotes boldly running up and grabbing small dogs right off of leashes and running off, and one case I heard of, of a coyote jumping a 6’ block wall, grabbing a small dog, and jumping back over the wall.
We’ve never had any problem with them bothering humans around here but that could be because people hunt them constantly and they are still afraid of people.
