I didn’t say give him a pass. I’m saying he’s not the useless POS everybody is making him out to be, that’s all. What I mean by “give him his due” is to try to keep a little perspective and balance when criticizing someone who has accomplished something for us. As for recently, I have heard him criticize zero mercilessly numerous times.

It’s not that I’m such a great fan of Newt’s - I’m not. But I do get tired of seeing conservatives skewer someone because they aren’t a 100% perfect conservative 100% of the time. It gets childish and tedious. I say let’s keep our eye on the ball and save the skewering for people like scuzzy and the other BRs (Beyond RINOs) and the real enemy (zero). Newt is not our enemy. I think guys like Lincoln Chafee, Jim Jeffords, Arlen Specter and a host of others are far more deserving of our wrath than Newt is.

As for McCain, I can’t stand the guy, but I voted for him anyway - he was a lot better choice than zero. As for giving him his due, well, you go spend five years in a North Vietnamese prison camp and then get back to me about what he is due. He IS due respect for that no matter how much he grates on our last nerve. There are just certain things that are so monumental that we, who have given and sacrificed much less or nothing at all, simply have no right to speak to other than with respect and gratitude. When I tell a member of the armed services or his family member that I appreciate his service, I really do mean it. Harping about McCain-the-pain really pales when you think about zero using our dead soldiers in their caskets for a photo op the other night. It pales when one thinks about John Murtha and all the things he’s done. Please keep your eye on the ball. KNOW YOUR ENEMY. Judging by your words - I believe it's you who needs to 'know your enemy'. They are YOUR warts, dude, not mine - they stand for nothing I believe in and that includes deception.

Hey, he got paid, did his job and has been working the system since. He's gotten more back - book sale$, speeche$, TV platform/job, etc. than he gave. He's living high on the hog on one accomplishment! I'd like to see the same for all our military - we don't even know their names unless they are killed. Newt is an opportunities - he can take his wares and peddle elsewhere. He's not my enemy - conservatives step over whoever is in their way - he's just a nuisance who I ignore.
