A sign in the boys’ locker room of my high school in the 50’s read “Experience is a tough teacher. She gives the test first and the lesson afterward.” How true. And we're administering the test to the NRC now. The lesson is that we might not be able to win on our own, but we can damn sure keep you from winning too! In other words, we are going to see to it that you HAVE to listen to us if you have any hope of winning. Part two of the lesson is that we can last longer than you can. Our lives go on day to day with politics being a sideline for us. It's the other way around for you, politics is your life and if you don't win no one will contribute to you.

So, even if we don't win the whole shebang this time, we'll have made the point. And we'll keep making it until you get it.

Interesting observation, but the GOP is in the donations business. They do what brings in the money, as their consultants tell them.
