If the Party had backed Hoffman it wouldn't be an issue. And Newt knows its a phony issue. Hoffman will vote with the GOP.

What’s there to prevent Scozzafava from jumping parties after elected as Jumping Jim Jeffords did to give congressional power to the Democrats?

If you saw Hoffman on Glenn Beck, you would know why they did not back Hoffman. The guy seems really really nice, but after that, I just don't know what is there.

The party isn’t going to back Hoffman because he has a (C) behind his name, like Scozzo has an (R) after hers. Newt has put party over principle in this race. Hoffman will caucus and vote with the House GOP members, because he’s already got support from Conservatives within the GOP.
