One of the most sensationalistic headlines I've read in quite some time. They were "prepared" to shoot something down, something traveling at 600 MPH and at 30K feet, while they sat still on a tarmac? Ridiculous.
They were "prepared" to take off, intercept the aircraft and then make a threat assessment. They were no closer to "shooting down an aircraft", than I am of dating Cindy Crawford.

I agree, plus their not going to shoot down a plane just because it has been hijacked. It would have to be a threat to something on the ground.
