I woud have to heartily disagree. I am not a "nanny-stater" by any stretch of the imagination but there are no two ways about it, freedom and liberty are like manure and money, unless they are spread around they do no good.

I'll bet you're a Paulite.

That sounds good but the end result of the policy you recommend is American troops building schools, clinics, burning poppy fields, building oil refineries, e.g. acting as nanny staters in other countries. Liberty always takes second place to nation building. Those who lose their liberty are the American taxpayers who have to pay for it but no longer have the money! A better way to “spread around” liberty is to serve as a beacon of liberty in the world rather than trying to force it. It worked comparatively well in the eighteenth and century.
