Oakland is trying to move away from San Francisco as far as possible before Pelosi and Feinstein return home

Cable just installed last month

Installed by UNION workers that should explain it.

So, why should I give a damn about either place? The bridge is a nexus of evil

There's a witch-burning in your village this afternoon - best leave now so you won't be late. :)

I have never had anything good to say about Chinese metals. As a woodworker, its becoming harder and much more expensive to avoid China. My Chinese metal tools break all of the time!

"Well, they can start spending some of that shovel ready money now I guess."

The only people they could find who are willing to work are illegal aliens and White males:

No White Male Construction Workers

Now What?

One reason the Chinese can underbid others is that they tend to skip steps, reduce the number of necessary parts, etc. in the manufacture of their items.

They are old, and maintenance has been defered to fund programs with higher priorities. And you what programs they are.

Brooklyn Bridge, over 100 years, original main cables, even with a scandal about substandard materials at one point. I guess Washington Roebling overengineered unashamedly.

Exactly! Even name brands are now doing this and they WILL pay for it in reduced sales. Total BS Nothing like gluing up a project only to have your clamp break.

I still think it’s shoddy reporting.

To me, there's no think about it -- It's shoddy reporting not to have identified which bridge was involved.

Yep states are given all of these federal funds to be used for infrastructure and aren’t obligated to spend them like that so they go to whatever the politician in charge wants them to. It’s more important to give welfare Mom’s more money than it is to make sure our roads, bridges, water supplies, etc are safe.
