Ive written about David Harmer before. He is in a very close election out in CA-10, running in a special election to replace former Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher.
As Jim Geraghty noted yesterday, Harmer is running full steam ahead into the public option in his district, which leans blue, but in which Harmer is polling very, very well against a state wide elected Democrat Californias Lieutenant Governor.
Harmer could use some last minute help. Things are looking good for him, but money and volunteers remain in short supply.
To donate folks can go to the website:
http://www.harmerforcongress.com/
To volunteer, people should call the campaign headquarters:
500 Ygnacio Valley Road, Ste 360 Walnut Creek, CA 94596 (925) 979-5813
Walnut Creek is around 20 miles due east of San Francisco. CA-10 includes parts of Contra Costa, Solano and Alameda counties. This could be a pick up for us and those of you out west could really help turn this district.
Full steam ahead.
It seems to be a strong Democrat district, but has there been any polls published?
It’s a strong socially liberal district but also financially conservative and pro military. Yea I know some would say RINO but it’s not Kansas.
I’m not judging anyone but just stating what this district is about. It has money, is NOT SF or Berserkely yet will sign on to “Green” issues.
The Dem Garimendi is a disaster but he’s also the LT Gov. If he wins Arnold picks a replacement. Garimendi doesn’t even live in the district but in CA you don’t have to.
David Harmer’s father was Ronald Reagan’s Lt. Governor.
There was a movie actress named Lillian Harmer in the 1930s. She died in 1946. Wonder if there’s any relation.
Has he contacted Sarah Palin for an endorsement?
There’s going to be a phone bank for him Thursday at the Silicon Valley GOP office, sponsored by Chuck DeVore for Senate. It’s a great way to help out a good man today, and to get started helping a good man for next year!
There was a poll done around the first of October. It showed this race in single digits. Using “historical” turnout models, it was 7 points. However, weighting it by primary participation for this special election, it was only 2 points separating Harmer from the Democrat Garamendi.

This is a winnable race in what was supposed to be a “safe Democrat district.”
A good summary. It is also not a district where they just habitually vote for the "D" candidate. Ahnold won this district in 2006. Again, not a ringing endorsement of conservatism, just a data point that having the "D" does not guarantee victory in this district.

Did you leave off the </sarcasm> tag?

Palin didn’t endorse Hoffman until the grass roots got solidly behind Hoffman. In the week before Palin’s endorsement, Hoffman raised about $210,000 on his web site. That came from us spreading the word on sites like FreeRepublic and on Blogs like RedState and MichelleMalkin.
I am also contacting the NRCC to ask why they are supporting Scozzafava in the race in upstate New York, and why they are ignoring David Harmer in this California’s 10th district. Here are the numbers if anyone else wants to call:
Info from the NRCC "contact us" web page: Contact the NRCC
Address:
320 First Street, SE
Washington, DC 20003
General Email:

Phone:

Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

Candidates I support: Doug Hoffman for Congress, NY 23rd (PayPal), David Harmer for Congress, CA 10th (website for info). Please, spread the word about these important special elections on November 3, 209: New York’s 23rd congressional district and California’s 10th congressional district. |
