As President Obama contemplates U.S. strategy in Afghanistan, the military operation in the country is facing increasing violence. Eight U.S. troops were killed in Afghanistan on Tuesday.
October has been the most violent month for U.S. troops in Afghanistan since the war began eight years ago. Todays violence follows the deaths of 14 U.S. troops killed yesterday in a helicopter collision believed to have been caused by enemy fire. A total of 55 U.S. troops have been killed this month. Overall, 2009 has witnessed the highest number of U.S. and NATO troop deaths in Afghanistan since the war began.

Gibbs admits that he does not know when the President will make his final decision, but it is expected the announcement will come sometime in the next few weeks.
A few weeks. What's a few weeks to soldiers in the field?
The list, ping
Screw Obama. I don’t believe for a heartbeat that he gives a d*mn about the troops, he probably hates them and all the military (it doesn’t help that he doesn’t have what it takes to be them). Anything he’s doing, there are political polls behind it. My brother is in Iraq again, no leave this time (fortunately only a couple-3 months left—I’m praying hard) and I can hear in his voice the total lack of morale, which wouldn’t be confined to him-he’s one of the least whiniest people in the world. If it’s that bad there, my heart bleeds for the troops in Afghanistan.
Unfrikenbelievable!!
Exactly!
Obama lies: Soldiers Die
how long before that ends up on posters??
Really, our military needs to take the silk gloves off and go RKO on the terrorists. For every one of our soldiers they kill with sniper fire, IED explosion, hostage taking, we kill 10 of theirs. For every civilian death at the hands of the terrorists, we kill 20 of theirs.. For every Christian they kill in the name of Islam, we destroy two of their mosques..
Well, the main thing that occurred to me was that, if the Taliban smell weakness, if they think running up U.S. casualties is a way to get to Obama, they'll go crazy.
The second thing that occurred to me was that the U.S. Army in Vietnam had good morale all through Tet, up until "Landslide Lynt'n" made his "I quit" speech and threw in the towel. The minute he announced he would countenance capitulation, Army morale and discipline went to hell and drug use blossomed. "Hooches" were unheard-of in 1967, but common in 1969.
“I think the President will take some time after these meetings to think through what he’s heard, what we’ve all learned, and evaluate this process, both what’s best for our country, what’s best for Afghanistan, Pakistan, and for the region as a whole,” Gibbs said.
What a douche!
I was posting about that exact thing at RR today, that it seems like since Truman, every rat president has laid America open to be spat upon and abandoned the men on the ground right in the middle of action. Nothing could be worse.
Bad American politics leads to needless American soldier deaths...
Hey, O, in the words of my beloved father, cut bait or fish! Fight the war like it needs to be fought, or bring our guys home.
My hubby was in Vietnam early on. If the politicians had the guts to bomb the supply routes we might have won that war. But having the elite, educated, thoughtful, ditherers in charge only killed 55,000 men. Hell will not be good enough for the likes of Obama, Biden for killing 55 men in October in Afghanistan.
obama, you small little man, you weasel--you are nothing but a lousy piece of crap!
