Yes. I forget the exact number, but I think they had computer records of the two perps passing through check points set up after the shootings about a dozen times. But they didn’t notice until after they were arrested—no thanks to Moose. It would have been an elementary method to go through the records and check out any drivers who came up more than once at the checkpoints—but they didn’t bother.
Well, what are the odds he really will die next month? I’m sure there will be more appeals. Maybe the Wise Latina Woman will let him off.
I was living in Maryland at the time. I read later that cops, who threw up checkpoints after several of the shooting scenes, recorded Muhammad and Malvo’s car and license plate several times, each in different locations near the crime scenes. A totalk of 8-10 times overall. Nothing ever happened, no one connected the dots. Christ, Barney Fife ccould have done that!
