George P. Bush, or "P" as he's known to some, is thought to be the biggest hope for a fourth generation of Bush family political leaders, with some suggesting that he might run for statewide office in Texas at some point in the next four to eight years. But, as The Daily Beast points out today, any future George P. Bush political ambitions will have to be put on hold as his Navy Reserve unit is set to be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan in the coming weeks.
Lt. Junior Grade Bush, 33, joined the Navy Reserve in 2007 as an intelligence officer. The Navy recently told him, like thousands of others, that the two ongoing wars required him to go active-duty overseas, potentially in Iraq or Afghanistan. "It's been communicated to me that it's not a question of 'if,' it's a question of 'when,'" Bush told The Daily Beast. "It's just a matter of time." Bush, who said that he was inspired by the service of his grandfather George H.W. Bush as well as former NFL star Pat Tillman, signed up for an eight-year term in the Navy Reserve in 2007. When word got out about his enlistment, Bush told Politico that he was "disappointed" as he'd intended to keep it under wraps, saying, "I was hoping to keep this as confidential as possible. I'm not doing it for political purposes or anything along those lines." However, prior to his joining some opponents of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan roundly criticized the Bush administration for the Bush family's lack of service in the war effort,

Hello? The lights are on, but is anyone home? There is this way of communicating called “irony.” And sarcasm. Do people really have to mark their sarcastic comments with little “sarc” faces? Or what? The word “technically” didn’t strike you as strange? Do you really think I would join FR to advocate a hereditary monarchy in our country?
LOL! I thought you were serious too!
NO MORE... NEVER AGAIN!

Amen to both.
W kept this Country safe for eight years.
I can’t believe I’m reading this at FR. We spend all this mindshare (rightfully) blasting away at the Kennedy’s for their elitism, and all the inappropriateness of dynasty for the USA, and then here we see some straight teeth in a flashed smile, and we CHUCK ALL THAT OUT THE WINDOW...?
That’s extremely foolish and smacks of self-hating, obsequious followership.
Like some kind of faithful but pitiful beast, pushing endlessly away on a yoke, just grateful at the end of the day for a bag of grain.
DISGUSTING...!
Because of the Ronaldus Maximus imprimateur I got fooled by H. —shame on me. Then W. came along and the machine went into overdrive, shrieking about how junior here (W) was “DIFFERENT FROM DAD” —oh yeah, suuuuure, HEEEEEE’s a conservative right?
WRONG!
NEVER AGAIN....
FAKE CONSERVATIVE DETECTOR NEEDLE PEGGING & NOW BURIED INTO THE RED!
Is this the one they call Prescott? The one who, when he was a teenager, was briefly arrested for “getting it on” in a car in a parking lot at the mall?
What is with these freaks that want a Bush dynasty?
This young man is a patriot, a class act, and a credit to his family and his country.
Many on this thread should be ashamed of their crass comments about a man who has volunteered to go to war.
Bush wasn’t perfect but neither was Reagan. George Bush did stand tall while most of the world flung feces at him. Although he could have been more conservetive we could have done a lot worse. I understand the hatred from the other side but I just don’t get it from the right. A lot of people act like we would have been better off with Gore or Kerry. That’s crazy.
Amen.
Remember when Bush’s nephew campaigned in Mexico?
Gezzzz
this is not about military service —that’s GREAT.
This is about whether folks would vote for a T-H-I-R-D George Bush 4 prez.
That is COMPLETELY NUTS.
Oh wait— THIS is the guy who will enforce our borders..?!?!?!!?
And those Obama girls need to get that H1N1 vaccine.
I agree with you. President Bush was a fine president especially considering what we have in there now.
I pray for George P as well. I’d feel a whole lot better for him if his commander-in-chief were still his uncle though.
We’ll see. Personally, I think it might be funny that the first Latino and second Catholic President might be named George Prescott Bush.
He did?
Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of the family members of American victims that have suffered at the hands of thousands of illegal aliens violent criminals, that have murdered, raped, shoot, robbed, burglarized, maimed and injure 10,000 Americans every year.
He will come under IMMENSE political pressure to SHOW how latin he is, and they’ll call him all manner of white stuff until he just throws the border wide open —even further than it is now.
VERY VERY SIMPLE.
And their blood just is as red. There deaths just as sorrowful. I wish him well. He is setting out to do a lot more than a lot of us pounding away on our keyboards. I’m thankful for people like you and him.
Dan Rather III will say this never happened thirty years from now.
