I never understood why so many people are sold on Newt. He has always been a go-along to get-along politician. Much like Dennis Hastert, he has done NOTHING for the cause and the party. The Republican Party needs a cleansing and a purpose. We need folks with a passion... and not just the passion of a political career.

Nostalgia for the good ‘ol days of which people associated with Newt. It’s the same with Reagan, only Reagan actually deserves that nostalgic glow when he’s spoken of. Nostalgia’s powerful though. Has a way of making people forget or whitewash what really went down. Only at times like these do people suddenly remember the side of Newt that led to him being run out of office.

That and I suppose he has a touch of Clinton or Obama about him. Some people are fooled by glib speakers. Maybe we all are at some point.

I see it as a blessing. Been speaking against the guy for the last few years but people persisted in believing in him. That appears to be ending.

Were you not around in 1994?

What he did then was nearly unprecidented in political history.

At the least, he set an example (back then) of what needs doing in 2010.
