This is why all of DC is terrified of Palin. The Appropriators all went native and have attempted to move their constituents to the center, on both sides of the aisle.
It hasn’t worked well, unless you were the party in power and didn’t care about getting stuff done so much as getting re-elected.
Palin has returned to Reaganite principles. She’s not a wonk. She’s just like every other overtaxed, overworked mother with both parents working. She’s worried about the rapid moral decay and the indiscriminate spending. She doesn’t care about the party, but very much about its core principles. Her kid had a baby out of wedlock, so she made the best of it, continued to love her kid, and her grandkid.
To me, that’s as big a tent as you need in conservatism. We are all broken people, but without standards, then look out below.

I’m not convinced we’ll have elections. I can see some “thing” happening and a call to suspend elections—just like they did in NYC right after 9/11.
Exactly. I’ve reached the same conclusion as Beck...it’s what the candidates believe in that counts, not necessarily the party.
Now we see why the GOP just doesn’t get it...they don’t have a clue and it they don’t wake up they will be left behind.
