It is hard to ignore when the per-capita crimes committed rates are on the order of 6X - 8X higher than for whites. And when blacks demand to be treated as a group in many other areas. Why not in analysis of crime?
This is a cultural issue that needs to be honestly addressed, is the brutal truth of the matter. And playing the race card doesn’t help that happen.

It made my heart ache, you know, to see all these beautiful black men in the joint. The warriors should be out there helping the masses. I felt that way, I was real naive. Six weeks I was up there and I talked to the brothers. I talked to em, and ... thank God we got penitentiaries! - Richard Pryor

And a black person could point to two world wars started by Germany in the 20th century, the atomic bomb, genocides, etc. White people may not live in the inner city and commit as many crimes there, but no race has clean hands when it comes to crime and brutality
And I suspect native Americans would have a lot to say about "non-criminal" white folk, as well.
Those who only want extrapolate the microcosm of inner city street crime to cover a whole race usually have an agenda. There's a much bigger picture.
