Harmer no stranger to policy and politics

REPUBLICAN David Harmer knows the odds. His Democratic challenger in the 10th congressional district special election, Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, has more money and name recognition in the heavily Democratic district.

"One of my heroes said, and I am paraphrasing here, that a majority has never been necessary to prevail but what it takes is an irate and tireless minority keen to set fresh fires of freedom in people's minds," Harmer said. "Whether a Republican can carry this seat depends on how badly the voters want to send a message to both parties than an explosion of (government) spending has to stop."

The Cato Institute was so impressed with his book on school choice that it published it in 1994. Called "School Choice: Why You Need It, How You Get It," Harmer argued in favor of allowing parents to direct the tax dollars they pay for education to the school of their choice.

Another underdog Republican, this one in California.

I am sickened that he seems to have almost no support from the RCCC. They are busy going all in for a radical leftist in upstate New York. A previous thread with a posting at redstate.com says this is a 7 point race, and potentially winnable for the GOP.

I’m sending my NRCC begmail back to them - taped to one of a pile of bricks that I need to dispose of.

That’ll help their return postage standing with the Post Office, AND reduce wasted space in the local landfill.

I have scanned a check to Hoffman, and I will probably do the same for my donation to Harmer. After obscuring the account numbers, I print a color copy and trim it to the same size as a check, then write “I support conservative candidates” across the face. My plan is to send these “checks” to the RNC and RCCC the next time they beg for funds.

Someone here on FreeRepublic says they believe that the folks at the RNC who open mail just throw away all the surveys and letters and keep the checks. I figure my “checks” with messages on them might get a little further, possibly to someone who actually reads the message.
