Unfair. She was not overpaid at the U. of Chicago. $300,000 a year is cheap to buy a U.S. Senator's good graces.

Don't mean to pick solely on Michelle here. If you want to dig at payoffs to Members of Congress, one of the places you have to look is the family. Michelle's arrangement was perfectly legal, and rather common in our higher political circles. You can't put a Member of Congress on retainer any more, and it's increasingly difficult to slip big bucks under the table. But you can hire or throw business to the spouse.
