It always comes down to this! And as I keep explaining, I have never run into a creationist who believes you have to be a biblical YEC to be a Christian. Clear enough for you? This is about preaching the full gospel of Jesus Christ, which, as Christians well know, begins in Genesis...the very first book of the Bible.

I can think of no better proof for the existence of God in the physical world than every galaxy, black hole, sun, planet, comet, asteroid, every bit of matter, every drop of energy compressed into the size of a dot and exploding into being. I have no problem believing that Genesis is figurative and not literal, but in the end I don't care if it's literal or figurative. God created the heavens and the earth and sent His son to die for us.

The same is true for evolution. I don't care if humans evolved over time or popped into being. My sister-in-law likes to say she wonders how long Adam and Eve were in the garden. However it happened, the hand of God was involved. And I don't need anyone telling me I have to believe their particular interpretation of Genesis to believe in Jesus Christ or to be saved. Fortunately, we'll all be judged by someone infinitely wiser than any poster on FR.

I view the debates about evolution the same way I view the debates about various issues, like the debates about whether Mary was immaculately conceived or was perpetually virginal. It's interesting from an intellectual perspective, but it doesn't matter one bit to my faith in Jesus Christ.

People have for 2,000 years used different issues to divide Christianity and say you have to hold their particular beliefs. This is just another one of those issues.

“God created the heavens and the earth and sent His son to die for us. The same is true for evolution. I don’t care if humans evolved over time or popped into being”

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

If we evolved and there was no literal Adam that brought sin and death into the world, why did Jesus need to die? A figurative Genesis undermines the very reason for the gospel.

BTW, I don’t think you have to believe Genesis is a true account to be saved.
