WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has declared swine flu a "national emergency," the White House said Saturday, as the United States reels from millions of cases of infection and over 1,000 deaths. The emergency declaration, signed by the president late Friday, enhances the ability of medical treatment facilities to handle a spike in influenza A(H1N1) patients by allowing them to implement emergency plans thanks to federal requirement waivers.

So it sounds like this emergency declaration is to loosen some of the overregulation on hospitals and give them more flexibility.

Might not be as sinister as some of the flu denying / government fearmongers are suggesting.

Besides I don't think Obama wants to kill us all with the flu shot. Judging by his recent appointments, Obama would rather inject us with something to make us all gay.

My memory could be off, but I seem to recall that was one of the many things Bush handed over during the transition for Obamanation to do with as he pleased, such as handing handing him the other 1/2 of the 700 billion dollars authorized to stimulate organized crime.

I was watching the local news this morning, and they said that Seattle ran out of vaccine in 3 days, and they're hoping to start immunizing the Snohomish area in the next few days. Yet Sebeluis has been placating the nation for weeks not to worry, there was enough for everyone.
