The more Republican officials endorse Hoffman, the better. I'm surprised that he's only the second Congressman to do so.

Good. It might turn into an avalanche of support. Hopefully enough to put Hoffman over the top and send a big message to the RNC. No RINO’s.

In 2012 we’ll probably be treated to a fight over who was the first republican to endorse Hoffman.

The GOP defections started with Sarah Palin. Now others are following suit. If the defectors can continue to raise funds, replacing funds that will certainly be withheld by the GOP for jumping the party platforms (whatever that is), the Conservative Party will gain a power base..

The Republican Party will rapidly become irrelevant if the defections continue.

Todd should stick to being a good congressman from Wichita, Ks. he is a good guy but Jerry Moran from Kansas 1st district will be our next Senator.

I think its odd Todd wanted to enter this fray in NY. I think his message to Kansans is wrong.

I am actually surprised by this endorsement. While I agree with your point, I don’t expect too many endorsements from within the party. There are at least 18 Republican elected people (17 House members, one Senator) that I am aware of who are supporting Scozzafava. How low that number stays will be an indication of the problems for the leadership who went along with this candidate.

I am actually watching for news reports today. My Republican Rep is supposed to be doing a campaign appearance for Scozzafava this morning, and I know she has had a few dozen calls from her constituents and supporters telling her this is a really bad idea. She made plans for this before the police report fiasco earlier this week. We will see what happens.

Sorry o_zarkman44, that is revisionist history. Armey was well before Palin, and so was Bachmann.

As for the relevancy of the Republican party, that remains to be seen. How relevant and powerful the conservative wing of the party will be depends on Hoffman. A Hoffman victory will be the start of a conservative resurgence within the party. Hoffman beating Scozzafava by a significant amount could also help conservatives. A third place showing by Hoffman would be a very bad outcome for conservatives.

Looking at the district, and the candidates and their positions, Hoffman stands a chance at victory. But the money in this race is really distorting things. The Dems are pouring massive cash into this race, well beyond what the Republicans and Hoffman have been doing. Palin is bringing big donations to Hoffman, and that could be enough to turn things around for him. But Hoffman has made a few blunders as well (Scozzafava has been a disaster).

Still, the numbers that matter will be the votes on November 3rd.

Has everyone seen this: “The Most Important Number in Politics Today.”

Doug Hoffman is the Conservative alternative in this race (or Hoffman by PayPal).

Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.

Scozzafava also holds these positions:

Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.

This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” libeRal democRat. Mark Steyn has coined the term DIABLO for her and others like her. Democrat In All But Label Only.

There are also at least 17 unprincipled DIABLO enablers in the house who have donated funds or otherwise supported to this LibeRal democRat's DIABLO’s campaign. They include Boehner, Cantor, Sessions, Hensarling, Brown-Waite and McCotter. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These unprincipled enablers should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year.

Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

I support Doug Hoffman for Congress (PayPal).

Please, spread the word about this important election on November 3, 2009 in New York’s 23rd congressional district.
