"The numbers change significantly among the college-educated INDOCTRINATED: "

Your feelings towards higher education help to explain your obvious lack thereof.

"Why the hate and pompousness?"

Agamemnon is frequently blunt, but never hateful.

I can see why you recoil though; he hit you where you live!

You gotta use logic here. The Saints are from New Orleans, New Orleans gets flooded with water and everybody leaves, right?
What do Dolphins live in? Water!
There you have it, perfectly clear. At least that’s what my niece explained to me and for a 6 year old she’s a fair handicapper, (but not as a bookie, no, not at all).

I agree it was a cheap shot, but when you hang one over the plate it is hard not to swing for the cheap seats.

[[Very honestly: a hell of a lot less than I ought to be, and a hell of a lot less than I would like to be. (And yes, I know very well that Christians aren’t “supposed” to use the word “hell,” except as a literal noun. But I no longer think God is quite so concerned about the little tiny stuff. I instead believe that He is concerned about the big stuff - like how people treat each other.)]]

Hell- all of us are much less than what we ‘should be’- God didn’t come to save perfect people=- He came to save sinners- plain and simple- We’re still ‘sinners’ after salvation- however, our sins are pardoned once for all (note- that is NOT a free liscence to sin- we will still be held accountable to the law for our sins, but we will still inherit the kingdom of heaven because we have been adopted into the family of Christ by the blood of Christ.

Being a Christian isn’t about obeying- we don;’t earn salvation- it’s a free gift we either accept or reject- While Christians should strive to be more Christ like- our Salvation isn’t dependent upon what we do after salvation- it’s dependent upon our accepting Christ as Savior- Again- Christ came to save sinners-

[[But generally, I’m pretty much of a model citizen. People who know me in person like me, as far as I know and can tell. I certainly try to do to them as I would have them do to me.]]

Be careful here- a lot of good outstanding citizens are goign to hell because they never humbled themselves before God and Asked Christ to be their Savior- they prefer to ‘earn their way’ to heaven rather than throw themselves compeltely upon the mercy of Christ by asking HIM to do what HE came to do. IF you have accepted Christ as your Savior- don’t worry about ‘lack of faith’- our faith wanes and rises based on emotions- however, the act of Salvation is eternal, and is NOT dependent upon our feelings- Satan will try to sift us by playing to our fears- causing us to doubt- but IF you have thrown yourself at Christ’s feet, confessed that you were a lost sinner who was in rebellion against God, and asked Christ to save you as He said He would IF we only humble ourselves and ASK him to- then you are saved- IF however, you’ve never done htis, and are relying on being a ‘model citizen’, relying on ‘living how you think Christ would want you to’, then I’m afraid you are simply relying on your own works to save you- and htebible is VERY clear that this will NOT bring us salvation-

Heaven is a place where sin can not coexist with God’s righteousness- God’s perfection demands complete objective judgement- and the ONLY way to be compeltely justified is through the perfect sacrifice of Christ- the final sacrifice for man- we MUST go to God through Christ who was made perfect in order to cover our imperfection- our ‘most righteous acts’ are as filthy rags because we are stained by sin- but Christ’s blood cleans that stain of sin cokmpletely away- there is nothign we can do other than go to God through Christ.

May God bless, and may you find the peace that you seek through Christ alone. If you have quesitons, please feel free to ask- there are many here that can answer better than I to clear things up if they are still hazy to you?

"But I no longer think God is quite so concerned about the little tiny stuff. I instead believe that He is concerned about the big stuff - like how people treat each other."

So do you honestly think this is the kind of stuff that pleases God?

"This is fun.

"GGG posts brainless YEC claims which promptly get ripped to shreds by multiple people. Then GGG responds by basically calling you evil, since you don’t happen to agree with his/her particular brand of “Christianity.”"

Or this in reference to YECs?

"But it seems that every generation has its Pharisees, who strangle the life out of Christianity and then insist that their version of it is the only true version. And in so doing, they misrepresent everything that Jesus ever stood for, all the while congratulating themselves: "We have the truth."

Weren't the Pharisees the ones who were overly concerned about their own righteous behavior? Didn't Christ say that your righteousness had to exceed that of the Pharisees? Do you really think the above exceeds the righteousness of the Pharisees? Seems rather to be on par w/ their behavior despite your long list of self-righteous acts.

"And would you like an apology? I apologize. I have not been as sensitive as I should have been. I have not been as kind as I should have been. For that, I apologize."

As we see above, you have gone way past 'not as sensitive' and 'not as kind' as you could have been. By a long shot.

"In any event, there’s not really anything more I can say. You and I apparently do not see eye to eye. As for “obey what?”, I will have to leave that with you. If you really are a follower of Christ, then you will understand it eventually. If not, well, in either case there’s nothing more that I can do. It’s all up to you."

If you really want to be a 'a halfway-decent, sincere follower of Jesus', I'd say that there is still plenty that is "up to you".

In the absence of a response, exercising such discretion is the better part of valor.

How did Noah get the dinosaurs in the ark again?

Well, the going explana....errr.....excuses range from:

They brought dinosaur eggs (no mention of any other egg of any other animals noted).

They brought dinosaur hatchlings (no mention of any other newborn animals noted).

All dinosaurs conveniently somehow fit into the alligator "kind"...particularly love that one.

I believe the two are not mutually exclusive and, therefore, see no one taking a firm position on either as anything other than ignorant.

“I believe the two are not mutually exclusive and, therefore, see no one taking a firm position on either as anything other than ignorant.”

As evolution does not address origins, you are correct. Evolution and faith are perfectly compatible. Belief in evolution does not preclude a belief in creation. Most creationists, though, do not share that viewpoint.

Being a Christian isn't something you do, it's something you are.

II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

God's command is for us to repent of our sin.

Acts 17:29 & 30 "Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by man's design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

Salvation is not by works, hoping that our good outweighs our bad. We can't make up for all the sin we've committed, especially since God says that the soul that sins will die. We've already sinned and brought the death penalty on ourselves. Christ died in our place so that by recognizing our need for Him, that we can't do it ourselves, we can put our trust in Him.

We aren't saved by works.

Eph 2:8&9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Gal 2: 20 & 21 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"

Gal 3: 10-14 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law." Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith." The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, "The man who does these things will live by them." Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

Gal 3: 24 & 25 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.

It's essentially throwing ourselves on the mercy of the court.

Ask Him to do in you and through you what you cannot do for yourself. God has done everything possible to bring men to Himself. He even established when and where we should live to make it easy. He paid the price that we cannot pay.

Acts 17:26 & 27 From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.

The only thing He cannot do is make the decision for us. He will not force it on us. Throw yourself on the mercy of the court, as it were, and ask God to reveal Himself and His truth to you and He will.

______

Those schools educated better than 70% of Ronald Reagan’s cabinet over the course of his two terms.

I’m suggesting that which way the school administration leans is less critical to which way a graduate leans than the anti-elitist elites would have us believe.
