Obviously. Law enforcement is known for tracking things down when they don’t suspect anything.

Wake up, FRiend. The cops have to go on more than just common sense in building a prosecution. There would be no confession unless the cops were pursuing it...

Law enforcement figured it out the same time the public did. The sheriff later admitted they had misled the media about that to make it easier to investigate the family. Seems Papa Heene was very helpful while he thought police still believed him. During the period while the Sheriff was still indicating he didn’t think it was a hoax, they lured Papa down to the station and then went into the house to execute a search warrant and try to persuade Mama to go to a safe house with the kids.
