Under the plan being pushed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a government-run health insurance plan would provide nearly the same benefits as the other private plans in a new insurance exchange, at a fraction of the cost.

Anytime the government enters the marketplace, it does so as a defacto monopolist. It's unjust and antithetical to a market economy. It is the very crux of the issue between a command economy and a free market economy.
Let them promise benefits at "a fraction of the cost." It's an illusion -- a willful deceit.

Of course. There’s no way private plans can compete with the govt. because the govt. doesn’t have to make a profit. The govt. can simply undercut the private plans, charge less for premiums, and eventually drive them out of business. It’s really no “option” at all, and the Dems know it. It’s a ruse to, ultimately, have socialized medicine in this country.

House Squeaker Pelosi pushes a government-run plan that...
... would provide nearly the same benefits as the other private plans in a new insurance exchange, at a fraction of the cost. And Squeaker Pelosi is correct, of course.
And I suspect that the fraction is something like 14/3.

Exactly. In fact, not only is the government not obligated to make a profit, it can run a deficit indefinitely, as long as it takes to bankrupt legitimate insurance carriers.
