I understand present, but what do you mean when by accounted for!!? I have heard the phrase “there is no accounting for you” spoken of me before. Is being accounted for a good thing?

Yes - Classically, the top Sargent (or leading petty officer)would report this to the officer at muster. Means “Everybody is here, or I’ve accounted for they are if they are not here ...”
Then again, are you worth more after you’re accounted four, or accounted sex?
(Gabz wonders why she is pinged to this answer since she has already accounted (several times) four sex ...)
