Scozzafava Declares Herself Part of Abramoff Wing of GOP: Funnels Campaign Cash to Family
Red State ^ | 10/23/09 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 10/23/2009 12:22:28 PM PDT by ellery

Jack Abramoff, present jailbird, was convicted of all sorts of crooked schemes. One of his favorites was to funnel money through various organizations into the hands of other people.

It appears Dede Scozzafava is funneling RNC, NRCC, and donor dollars through her campaign account to her family.

Dede Scozzafava is or was until recently the Chief Operating Officer of her brother’s company.

Her company’s key subsidiaries have accumulated hundreds of thousands of dollars in state and federal tax liens. As of July 13, 2009 – or less than a week ago – three of Dede’s businesses have $192,000 in outstanding liens.

Dede’s brother is Thomas W. Scozzafava and he is married to Pearl Han Ashcraft.

Dede Scozzafava’s campaign has paid $3750.00 in disclosed expenses to Pearl Han Productions, LLC for “Strategic Consulting,” the most bland of descriptions.

Here’s where it gets interesting.

Given the campaign’s propensity to file false police reports against reporters, I have no doubt this was intentionally designed to obfuscate what is going on.

On Scozzafava’s disclosures, Pearl Han Productions, LLC is located at 2001 S.E. Sailfish Pt. Blvd. #112, Stuard, NY 34996. There is just one problem. No such place exists.

What does exist, however, is 2001 S.E. Sailfish Pt. Blvd. #112, Stuart, FL 34996, a beautiful ocean front condo.

At that address, you’ll find Pearl Han Productions, LLC, incorporated in the State of Florida. (PDF). The person in charge is Pearl Ashcraft, Dede’s sister-in-law.

And if you think all that is too much of a coincidence, or maybe you think the campaign disclosure had just an innocent typo as to the address, consider this fact: Pearl Han Productions, LLC was not incorporated in the State of Florida until after the New York Republican Party made Dede Scozzafava its nominee.

Scozzafava was chosen on August 19, 2009, and eight days later on August 27, 2009, Pearl Han Productions, LLC was filed with the Secretary of State and reviewed a day later by that office.

Scozzafava doesn’t look to be just an ACORN candidate, but also more and more looks like an Abramoff Republican.

Do you have or know someone who has a subscription to the NY Post archives? There is an article there from 2006 that may open up a can of worms on Scuzzy’s pork and kickbacks.

http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/nypost/access/1184235421.html?dids=1184235421:1184235421&FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:FT&type=current&date=Dec+17%2C+2006&author=JANON+FISHER+and+ANGELA+MONTEFINISE&pub=New+York+Post&desc=GREA%24Y+POLITICAL+PORK%3B+CASH-HOGGING+LAWMAKERS%27+BIZARRE+BOOTY&pqatl=google

The search results pulled back that she was part of this story.

Send her to jail! Preferably as a defeated candidate and not the incumbent.

Who but a dolt bribes just one faction?
If you’re a player, you give each side a taste. Like certain neighborhoods, you tip the cops and the mob.
A technique as old as the first construction bribe in Hammurabi’s day.

Per the previous.. also check out the archive articles around 2002. There was some sort of big stink with her and her brother opening up some strip malls. All the article archives don’t give enough in the preview to shed any light on it, but it may be interesting.

>The only connection the media could make between Abramoff and the GOP was a photo where Bush was walking about 15 feet ahead of Abramoff after getting off AF1.

That is not true, to put it mildly.

Abramoff is a 100% true-blue GOP neocon , a liberal Republican in other words.

College Republican National Chairman
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Abramoff#College_Republican_National_Chairman

After graduating from Brandeis, Abramoff ran for election as chairman of the College Republican National Committee (CRNC). After a campaign which cost over $10,000 and was managed by Grover Norquist, Abramoff won the election after the chief competitor, Amy Moritz (who later, as Amy Ridenour, became a founding director of the National Center for Public Policy Research, and was involved in several trips funded by Jack Abramoff), was convinced to drop out. Abramoff “changed the direction of the committee and made it more activist and conservative than ever before,” notes the CRNC. “It is not our job to seek peaceful coexistence with the Left,” Abramoff was quoted as saying in the group’s 1983 annual report. “Our job is to remove them from power permanently.”[16]

>So how about you actually learn the facts instead of pimping Leftist propaganda?

The facts show that you are the one "pimping propaganda."

You just can't stand watching the Abramoff Wing of the GOP being amputated. That's too bad. The gangrene is spreading and it has to go.

No wonder you're so touchy, and rude to AuntB.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Abramoff_Indian_lobbying_scandal

The Jack Abramoff Indian lobbying scandal is a United States political scandal relating to the work performed by political lobbyists Jack Abramoff, Ralph E. Reed, Jr., Grover Norquist and Michael Scanlon on Indian casino gambling interests for an estimated $85 million in fees. Abramoff and Scanlon grossly overbilled their clients, secretly splitting the multimillion-dollar profits. In one case, they secretly orchestrated lobbying against their own clients in order to force them to pay for lobbying services.

In the course of the scheme, the lobbyists were accused of illegally giving gifts and making campaign donations to legislators in return for votes or support of legislation. Representative Bob Ney (R-OH) and two aides to Tom DeLay (R-TX) have been directly implicated; other politicians, mostly Republican lawmakers with connections to Indian affairs, have various ties.

Abramoff, Bush Together on Camera

http://washingtonindependent.com/1092/abramoff-bush-together-on-camera

By Matthew Blake 6/9/08 4:01 PM

Trolling through the House oversight committee’s report this afternoon, it became clear that Jack Abramoff was a bad influence on U.S. policy in the Northern Mariana Islands. Otherwise, the report, which said upfront that it was limited by key players taking the 5th, left more questions than answers. Here are a couple of the biggest questions (and a few photos of Abramoff and Bush):

– Why were White House personnel officials sending emails to Stephen Hadley in 2001 about a politically motivated State Dept. firing? The current National Security Adviser was deputy national security adviser at the time, putting him in a position where he would have nothing to do with Abramoff’s political dealings (along with the Mariana Islands, Abramoff’s top clients were four American Indian tribes). From what we know, Hadley’s involvement doesn’t make any sense.

– That leads to another question: Did Abramoff’s influence extend beyond helping his specific clients? The committee has six (low quality) pictures of him with President George Bush. (We published a handful of our favorites below.) We know Abramoff had extensive interactions with Bush’s political adviser Karl Rove. There’s also a lot of amusing stuff at the end of the report about Abramoff’s lobbying firm, Greenberg Traurig, buying tickets for people like Rove and former Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman to events like Washington Wizards games and U2 and Bruce Springsteen concerts on Abramoff’s dime.

The worse she appears to us, maybe the better New Yorkers will like her. That far up, the New York people don’t like the politicians that conservatives like.

Newton Gingrich tried to sell Nelson A. Rockefeller in GA and failed on that score too. They preferred Lester Maddox, but not for long. GA Jimmy told them Lester was bad, but Lester was right about GA Jimmy.

Thanks for setting ‘Terpfen’ straight. I was just going to do it myself. Abramoff was easily one of the most odious Republicans to come along in the last decade or so.
How ANYONE could be laboring under the illusion he is or was a Democrat, is beyond me, because he is proof positive that the GOP can be every bit as corrupt as the Democratic Party, and his life in politics should galvanize us into always being on the lookout for sleazeballs like him.
From the quotes you provided, though, it seems sadly and predictably now that there were PLENTY of Republicans who appreciated all those perverse and cynical qualities he embodied. People like Abramoff are allowed in (or bull their way in) and they seem to be on a mission to be “of use” to the Party, so they’re tolerated, and even “appointed”. Just one of the things that has to change in the GOP.

DEDE should withdraw from the race. Newt should be ashamed and so should the RNC. Hoffman will make a good rep., if, if the GOP voters will simply stop pulling the lever for DEDE and go with Doug. No Dem should be in that district. In fact, Dems in any District are a disaster.

Remember when Newt had his picture taken years ago with the enormous snake around his neck surrounded by earth worshippers? I think that was the sign to the lefties and neocons that he was on board.
