That is correct. Never drive off without it! I left my DL at the bank drive thru once and had the misfortune of getting hit by a guy running a red light. It didn’t matter that I knew my DL#...they required the actual license. My case was dismissed because when I got to court (with my license, citation and accident report in hand), the court ticket showed that I ran the red light while driving without my license. I had all my documentation and the judge just wrote it off (or whatever they do to dismiss it). Lesson learned!
I just paid my fine. If Dallas traffic court is anything like the DMV there, no one speaks English anyway.
