The latest poll in the New York special election shows a close race, with Democrat Bill Owens leading Republican Dede Scozzafava 35 to 30 percent, with Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman at 23 percent.

Also note: The survey was conducted from October 19-21, largely before Scozzafava was criticized for calling the police on a Weekly Standard reporter

Tell me how Scozzafava is any different from the Dem.

Ok dirtboy - you asked. Scozzafava has an (R) after her name and the Democrat won't. That's how she's different!!!! Bet you weren't expecting that, now were you? Just listen to the RNC - we have to support the ones who can win, just like in 2008. Platform is secondary to getting the GOP back in power!

Now that I've explained it, get out your fat, greedy not-paying-your-fair-share check book, stop clinging to your arsenal, write a big fat check to the GOP, and walk out to the mailbox at the end of your compound and send it in.

So the Democrat wins and all of us lose. Wonderful.

A win for conservatives in this race is defined as 1) a Hoffman win or 2) a message sent and received by the GOP that liberal Republicans are not acceptable.

The ALLEGED GOP leaders would rather lose with a RINO than win with a conservative and a Republican.

If that is the case then this was a vote splitting backroom deal gambit by the RATS and the ALLEGED leaders of the GOP.

As others have pointed out, this “poll’ is from Daily Kos, the same loony left outfit, that with mischief firmly in mind, backed Scozzafava. It's virtually identical to the poll from October 15, since when Hoffman has gained plenty of momentum.
I'd ignore this poll for now.

Naaah.
If the Democrat wins, that means the DIABLO(Democrat In All But Label Only) loses, which can only be good for the Republican Party..

Would you rather win? The liberal that is ignored or the liberal that will be on every news show because she is a maverick?

My hope is that Hoffman wins. My comment was based on these poll results, which doesn’t show that happening. I refuse to celebrate the fact that the Democrats might pick up another New York House seat that was formerly in Republican hands. It’s ridiculous that they nominated this woman, but the only good outcome (a Hoffman victory) doesn’t look likely.

the Democrat wins, goes all the way back in history, if this is an exception, it will be a first

James L. Buckley in 1970 was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1970 as the NYS Conservative Party nominee, defeating incumbent Sen. Charles Goodell (R) and lumber heir Richard Ottinger (D). Buckley received 38.7 percent of the vote.
