The White House has told Congress it will reject calls for many of President Obama's policy czars to testify before Congress - a decision senators said goes against the president's promises of transparency and openness and treads on Congress' constitutional mandate to investigate the administration's actions.
Sen. Susan Collins, Maine Republican, said White House counsel Greg Craig told her in a meeting Wednesday that they will not make available any of the czars who work in the White House and don't have to go through Senate confirmation.

The debate goes to the heart of weighty constitutional issues about separation of powers.

"We recognize that it is theoretically possible that a president could create new positions that inhibit transparency or undermine congressional oversight. That is simply not the case, however, in the current administration," Mr. Craig wrote.

....Miss Collins said she's been looking at czars for months, and she doesn't have problems with many of the czars Mr. Beck has criticized.
Still, Mr. Craig spent two pages of his four-page letter to Miss Collins critiquing Mr. Beck's positions.

Once he gives any of his czars portfolio powers they *are* Constitutionally required to submit themselves to Congressional review. yet another act of subverting the Separation of powers by this would be Imperialist thug and *supposed* “Constitutional scholar”.
Do you honestly believe this clown Congress is going to impeach this clown president?
reduce funding of the WH
just like you did Vietnam
there is more than one way to skin a cat
LOL!
Lets see if Senator Byrd is all talk and no action.
Is he still alive???
Yes and the most dangerous time is when the RATS are cornered.
Unfortunately, that would require that a few dims vote in favor of defunding......not freaking likely.
Didn't one of them just set limits on executive pay...and Obama said the guy came to that decision all on his own?
Saw him on CSPIN the other day. Something about health care.
ping
LOL! Can't she issue a subpoena?
Can you imagine if Bush tried to pull this crap?
Obama to the media. Youre pissing me off.
Obama to the voters. Piss on you.
Exactly right. It seems that the voters are recognizing they are being pissed on. The media may be the next to show a little independence (note Thursday's refusal to interview pay czar Feinberg without Fox). Congress will continue to be the lapdog until replaced in 2010.
Don’t forget they more than likely have received friendly reminders from the WH and Dum Leadership exactly what will happen to them IF they don’t start goosestepping with the rest in this Admin.
“...a decision senators said goes against the president’s promises of transparency and openness....”
Oh, come on; you didn’t believe all that crap, did you????
Drag it out till there is NO REASON to fund it.
I ar referring to Afganistan and Iraq. When it’s PAINFULLY OBVIOUS that we have LOST, then there will be no need for $$$ thrown there. Plus we will show the terroists we are cowards and just want to be their BFF.
If Obama criminal, gave them portfolio powers, Congress is well within it’s rights to sign out arrest warrants for them. And compel them to testify under the threat of indefinite imprisonment.
Of course, they can act. But will they?
Does this Congress have any interest in embarrassing this administration?
We need to turn Congress in 2010 and then we might have a shot at impeachment.
Exactly right,,,,cut off their money. That has already been done, but, like already mentioned, the clown congress wont likely do that.
