I'm certainly supportive of this project, but I have to comment that the two signs those people are holding up are in conflict with each other. One says "Seniors, vote out Democrats in 2010 or they will deny us care", while the other says "Stop the march to socialism." Well it's precisely because seniors have become dependent on socialist programs like Medicare that the Democrats now have the power to deny care to seniors. If the seniors had been able to save more of their income during their working lives then they could afford their own health insurance and wouldn't be dependent on the government and vulnerable to budget cutbacks.

What the first sign should really say is: "Vote out Democrats in 2010 and cut taxes so we can afford our own health insurance plans." This is a major problem with Republican strategy now--it's declined into attacking the Democrats when they suggest cutting entitlement spending, when the GOP should be FOR cutting entitlement spending and taxes. We've lost the Kemp/Roth philosophy of lower taxes, lower spending, and limited government. GOP leaders needs to move away from the quick political win from supporting entitlement spending and get back to our basic philosophy of lower taxes and spending and a smaller, less intrusive, less costly federal government.

Yup.

Once you install an addictive program like Social Security, Aid to Students (whatever it’s called) Medicare - - - you can’t get rid of it. That’s why it’s imperative this Socialized Medicine movement be stopped dead in its tracks.

If it gets installed, it will paralyze this country. And you won’t get rid of it.

Good points

This is a major problem with Republican strategy now--it's declined into attacking the Democrats when they suggest cutting entitlement spending

Of course this isn't Republican strategy expressed in the signs at the 9-12 rally where those sign were seen, nor is it Rep strategy at and with the tea parties.

It's oridnaly citizens making signs from their hearts and coming out in millions to express what they feel are the issues to them.

Plus, that little blurb was posted by those opposed to the tea party effort so I'm surprised they didn't use signs that would make tea party goers look like kooks and nuts.

Thanks for your input!

The Democrats are not suggesting cutting entitlement spending. They just want to transfer those entitlement payments from seniors to poor illegal aliens and blacks. Their healthcare plan required massive tax increases and increases the deficit so it certainly isn’t a entitlement spending cut.

Secondly, seniors were forced to pay into the Medicare system for decades so it would be wrong to deny them care now. Democrats want to transfer those payments to groups that haven’t paid a dime into the system.
