Fifty-five percent of this group, and 41% of all Americans, hold this belief
PRINCETON, NJ -- A new Gallup poll may explain recent reports of increased gun and ammunition sales in the U.S. Majorities of those who personally own a gun (55%) and of those with a gun in the household (53%), as well as 41% of all Americans, believe that President Obama "will attempt to ban the sale of guns in the United States while he is president."
"Gallup's question documents that for a majority of gun owners, the belief that the president intends to try to ban the sale of guns is apparently quite real."
The issue of Obama's intentions relating to guns has particular relevance given the widespread news reports of sharply increased sales of guns and ammunition. Many of these reports suggest that the reason behind these increased sales is the belief -- right or wrong -- that the president intends to severely curtail the legal availability of guns and ammunition. A recent National Public Radio news story, for example, reported: "Gun dealers and bullet-makers are straining to keep up with record demand for ammunition. Some dealers think it's because of fear that President Obama might limit gun use. Although the president has made no specific proposal, bullets for sportsmen have been scarce for months."
And similar themes were struck in an Associated Press report: "American bullet-makers are working around the clock, seven days a week, and still cannot keep up with the nation's demand for ammunition. Shooting ranges, gun dealers, and bullet manufacturers say they have never seen such shortages. Bullets, especially for handguns, have been scarce for...

You are a very rich man! /ggg
And more are to come. I believe in peace through superior firepower.
>> Theyll NEVER take away our guns.
Don’t be so sure - a whole bunch of us will run down to the Po-lice station like wussy-men and stand in line. (Uh, not me, though.)
Armas? Por qué? El gobierno los protegerá. (Guns? Why? The government will protect you) Fidel Castro
I believe he will create a situation where guns are confiscated.
Sorry, we are not Cuban. Our laws are derived from the constitution, which is my law book. Civil disobedience will be normal. Look at who showed up at the Mall on 9-12, better yet, look who didn’t show up.
Are you going to participate?
I’ve read stories, this is the MAIN reason we haven’t been invaded.
There is no situation where that will happen and there are over 300-million guns that are privately owned in this country. The situation you talk about will lead to Civil War II faster than you can take a crap.
I purchased my last gun a couple of days ago.
I’m working on food for all of the kids......
That is 100% correct. For example the Utah state militias brag that they can make it 20-times worse than Iraq or Afghanistan for any invading force.
These posts are motivated by raw greed. Gun sellers are constantly trying to stir people up to buy guns and ammunition because Obama has made them rich and they want more. I tried to sell almost all of my guns on the secondary market and almost no one is willing to pay what appears to be market price for any of them. Only when I dropped the price a bit on two of them was I able to sell them for UNDER market value. The entire framework of this discussion is a lie and I am sick and tired of it being posted. I mean that directly and honestly.
Of bigger concern, I think Obama will try to ban or at least delay the Nov 2010 elections citing a disease outbreak. I think the current H1N1 scare is mostly a test market to see if he can scare the bejesus out of enough people so as to declare martial law in early November 2010 and delay elections “until the situation stabilizes” - i.e., never.
Which country under which ruler is now further left - Venezuela or the U.S.?
When John Lott and Obama were both on the same faculty in Chicago, Lott introduced himself to Obama. According to Lott, Obama said, “Lott? Your the gun guy, right?”.
Lott said, “Yeah, I guess I am.”
Obama said, “I don’t beleive people should be allowed to own guns”, turned around and walked away.
What else do you need to know?
I found a great place near me that sells dented food. I bought 196 of veggies last week for less than $30, our pantry is flourishing. We’re stocking up and preparing. We’re on a well and septic. Thank God, we’re ready. We’ve gone ‘galt’ a couple years ago and are doing minimal to contribute to this catastrophe.
I disagree. They are floating studies detailing the “heath risks” of gun ownership. Declare guns a “health” hazard and regulate them out of our hands. No act of congress required.
Imagine Utah and all of us outside Utah. This is Bambi’s fear. He knows we’re here.
Nope. There is far more “gun awareness” now than when Clintoon was pres. And Clintoon was a lot more popular.
Local and State authorities will balk at any confiscation attempt. We have an awful lot of folks on our side this time.
Us Bitter Clingers.
He doesn’t have to ban them. The California economy is so bad right now that a lot of younger gun owners are selling their guns to make make rent or car payments. I see more used guns for sale now and the asking prices are coming down all the time. I have taken advantage of it and picked up some I wanted but it does give me pause. He doesn’t have to ban guns, just tank the economy enough so people have to sell them. The prices dropping will just accelerate the selling.
You can sell your guns or not. I’m not willing to give up my freedom for your inability to sell your weapon, I’m not willing to take that chance, especially given our current anti-American governmnet. If our country is disarmed, then we fall. I’ll keep my guns, thank you.
