Good for Steyn.
“The tea parties and town halls were a response not just to Obama but to the 2006/2008 GOP.”
Correct. Obama ignores criticism. The tea parties are technically only useful in sending a message to the GOP not the tin eared demorats.

I’m one of the few people around here dumb enough to keep defending Newt, and he insists on embarrassing me.
I give up.

Mark Steyn is a decent radio host, but an excellent opinion piece writer. He’s got traces of Ann Coulter (with proper Canadian restraints in place) and WFB in his writing style.

The GOP leadership will learn the opposite lesson.
They’ll say the tent isn’t big enough.

I wanted to like him as I thought his conversion to Catholicism might be genuine. I fear he may be a Tony Blair Catholic, a breed I do not understand.

DIABLO! That’s great and can replace RINO in cases like Scozzofava and Olympia Snow.

I’m kind of surprised Sarah “I’ll campaign for any conservative” Palin hasn’t come out for Hoffman here as well.

Newt is out of touch with the base. Its no longer going to vote for the lesser of two evils. That's why the GOP can't get any traction in what should be a favorable political environment. It keeps telling conservatives to go take a hike. Guess what?
They are.

Rule #1, politicians are always for themselves first, and citizen's a distant 52nd. Rule #2, rarely (maybe one a decade) does politics attract someone with an actual soul- which is why you should never follow a person, only follow principle.

Not only Newt, but Boehner, Cantor, support Dede Schizzo....which should tell you that the GOP is nothing more than DNC-lite....and REAL Conservatives never willy-nilly vote for someone because they have an “R” next to their name

I am glad you have given up defending Duh-Newt.
He wrote a letter supporting her and said in the letter she is the new direction of the republican party.
