Now 2010 is approaching, and they aren't even starting to get their act together.

The Republicans are finished. THEY are the third party.

Normal Americans are the second party.

Until there are 218 Members of Congress who are not Republicans OR Democrats, nothing will change.

Anything can happen. No one knew Obama would have this country Communist in 9 months.

Well, I’ve been mentioning the possibility that the Republican party is finished. I mean really finished. They’ve had a run of 150 years, and that’s about as long as any party lasts.

But we won’t get a replacement until a few real heavies throw their weight behind it. For instance, if Sarah Palin is refused a shot at the 2012 presidency by the RINO leadership, because they are worried about their personal control of the party. Sarah MIGHT have the kind of leadership appeal to lead a successful effort to establish a new major party. But she would also need the support of at least a few Republican leaders who risked their political lives to back the new party.

That’s how the Republicans replaced the Whigs. Not a third party protest vote, but a new party taking over from a decadent and dying party.

I don’t know if that will happen or not. But it looks at least as probable as the alternative, that the Republican leadership will suddenly find some principles and some common sense.

In their own self interest you would think they would get a clue. But they seem to be utterly clueless.
