On the Right, an Upstate Upstart By the Editors
The case for rallying around Dede Scozzafava, the liberal and nominal Republican seeking to represent New Yorks conservative 23rd Congressional District, eludes us. Scozzafava was thrust imprudently into the nomination by upstate Republican grandees faced with a special election following Republican John McHughs leaving his seat to become secretary of the army. The Republicans once again have shot themselves in the right foot.
In spite of its having gone for Obama in 2008, the districts history suggests that it is basically conservative; Ms. Scozzafava is basically not.
Boy, is she not: Not only pro-choice and in favor of homosexual marriage common if distasteful concessions to the secular liberals agenda she also supports some of the most odious items on the Lefts wish-list, including the card check initiative that would put a big cudgel in the hands of Big Labor while effectively disenfranchising millions of American workers who may not desire to become Teamsters, SEIU members, or similar.
She signed the Americans for Tax Reform pledge to oppose tax hikes but immediately declared that she was not bound by having done so. It is no surprise that she is supported by the public-employees unions, ACORN and Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas Zúñiga. (Really.)

People are just not organized. Thats the problem, its like herding cats.
In the period of our founding there were such local groupspf people meeting to discuss ideals and ideas. And I don’t mean the Sons of Liberty and the Committees of Correspondence.
I mean what cam before them — the congregations! The news of the day was digested and considered and applied to ideas and ideals for at least three hours each Sunday, by congregations of families and households throughout the colonies.
We have already Sons of Liberty of sorts, and our Committees of Association are these internet forums and blogs like this one.
The piece we are missing is the local congregations. They do not, in our day, have to be “religious” or sectarian. In fact, the tax laws and social customs have co-opted and perverted the value of far too many religious congregation, the value of such establishments in helping rest America to the founding ideal and ideas — that is to establish governments that operate in accord with Divine ideals for government.
The Republicans are going to need an exit strategy. If they double down here it will hurt fund raising nationwide because likely Republicans will say how can I ensure that we don’t get a wolf in sheep’s clothing. We already had to suffer through McCain. Newt should shut up and if McCain get involved he will make himself look like an even bigger fool.
RNC: Stop giving any extra dough to Dede Scuzzylib or whatever her name is and instead say that they will wait until closer to election day where they can hammer the other lib. Don’t send any other prominent Republicans to NY23 lest they become infected with this scuzzy scrotal scum.
i know how busy I am, and anything that seems like “one more committment, meeting, task” just seems like a lot sometimes.
Maybe the best way to deal with this IS to use the technology and leverage that the way the Libs did with email and all that.
Looks like if I don’t make the effort and just complain that won’t help.I will make a comittment right now to check out some groups here to at least be on their ‘lists” to start, like the Tea Party Locals.
I don’t know whats going to happen. All I know is I have no influence. The GOP doesn’t even notice whats going on right in front of its face. The 9/12 march didn’t have an impact, obviously.
Maybe we should just start going to the Repub meetings locally and if lots of us do that it might shake things up from the grassroots up.
Kind of like sending in a horde of bees into a den of cats!
“typical NYS Republican who asked to be the Democrats candidate first?”
She’s what I call a Bloomberg Republican.
