Earlier this week, I was noting that it was unrealistic for conservatives to expect national Republican committees, like the RNC and National Republican Congressional Committee, to do anything but back the Republican in New York's special congressional election.
But the situation has changed.
It's not just the inanity of Dede Scozzafava's campaign calling the cops on a reporter; it's doubling down and calling McCormack a liar. With audiotape now exposing the Scozzafava campaign as the liar in their account of the candidate's interaction with John McCormack, it's a different ballgame. ....

Doug Hoffman is the Conservative alternative in this race (or Hoffman by PayPal).
Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.

Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.
This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” libeRal democRat.
There are also 17 RINOs in the house who have donated funds to this LibeRal democRat's campaign. They include Boehner and Cantor. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These unprincipled RINO enablers should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year.

Newt Gingrich vetted and then endorsed her. After he announced his strong support, the GOP had the cover to give her over $100,000 in direct contributions, along with paid staffers and additional advertising money.
This all happened late last week.
NEVER GIVE TO THE GOP! Give directly to the candidates. It’s more hassle, but the right people are helped.
I don’t understand how the Republican National Committee is supposed to support a candidate from an opposing party...that does not make sense to me. First of all, the voters voted this nitwit into this position. The Republicans had a primary and picked this candidate. Don’t ask me why but they did. I am not in the district and if I was would not vote for her...however, I still don’t see why the RNC is being bashed for supporting the candidate that the voters chose to represent the Republicans....Is it the right choice that the voters picked??? No, but the RNC does not have the luxury of supporting a rival. This would be like the coach of Penn State supporting Ohio State on Football game day...Does this more sense????
This is a classic example of a liberal candidate running interference for the Democratic candidate...and our people fell for it.
Anybody can make a mistake. But if our people don’t act now to mitigate the damage, they can only be considered as co-conspirators to this fraud upon the electorate.

She was not elected in a primary. In the state of NY a panel chooses the nominee in a special election. She was chosen buy a GOP panel.
The Democrats thought about putting her on their ballot spot but decided her brothers tax problems would get in the way. Apparently she has some friends in the local/state GOP party.
Pete Sessions and Jeb Hensarling of Texas also donated along with Boehner and some of the other top GOP guys who should have known better.
This could turn out to be a positive - a test run for a Conservative candidate. Think 2012 and the Dems crossover and nominate Romney. Palin can be on the ballot as the Conservative Party. Yeah, it may guarantee the nightmare of Obama continues but then again Romney is pro gay right, pro abortion, pro federal health . . .
Oh I did not know that...Thank you. That changes everything. So another words the “panel” could have picked a better candidate??? Ok...I agree this is tragic.
She was selected by the county chairs for the counties in this district. They passed on Hoffman and selected Scozzafava. I’m not sure why.

Then, the RCCC didn’t raise any red flags. I believe Pete Sessions, chairman of the RCCC, has blamed staffers there for not vetting the candidate properly. Still, last week, the RCCC led the way with an all in move to back Scozzafava. They should have stepped back and let the race develop on it’s own. At most, they should have provided the bare minimum to meet their contractual requirements.
There was no primary, and the voters wouldn’t have elected this woman. She is far too liberal for this district. She had a 15% rating from the New York Conservatives with her votes in the New York Assembly. The Congressman who was elected last year with 65% of the vote had a 71.55% lifetime rating from the American Conservatives Union and an 82% rating from the US Chamber of Commerce.

On the issues, Doug Hoffman is closest to the man that got 65% of the vote last year.
As for why the RNC should support her, or shouldn’t support her. I think that the RNC has a fiduciary duty to only support candidates who support much of the Republican party platform. If local Republicans in some district elect or appoint a candidate who opposes this much of the party platform, they should be denied funding from the RNC.
The RNC and RCCC accepted that money from donors to support the party platform. It is fraudulent for them to spend it supporting a candidate like Scozzafava who opposes so much of that platform.

They apparently have no contract that forces them to assist GOP candidates. You can ask Roseanne Pulido (chicagolady) about that.
Yesterday I donated directly Doug Hoffman’s campaign, not so much because I like him (I live on the other side of the country) but because I wanted to send a clear and unequivocal message to the RNC.
Change direction because no one is following you. I think this race is pivotal not so much in terms of the democrats but in terms of the real battle that is taking place between RNC and the conservative base.
We either win this battle or go our own way. The battle lines have been drawn its time to engage the enemy or we will be right back in the same situation come next election.
Well, perhaps there’s some question whether the RCCC should donate to someone running on the Conservative line only. Although the Conservative Party in New York tries very hard to coordinate with the Republican Party and endorse the same candidates.
But nothing requires them to give money to a rotten candidate who is sure to lose. This woman violates the basic Republican plank in every way imaginable. And there’s no way on earth she would have gotten the job without corrupt Albany favoritism.
As for Newt Gingrich, he stopped being a conservative when he started making deals with clinton, before he retired. And he was never reliably pro-life. He talked the talk, but he only walked the walk for a year or two before betraying all the principles he said he stood for. He left office in disgrace and has done nothing to redeem himself since.
Mitt is a dummy. He seems like a decent guy and a good family man but he is a stinking RINO.
Why would she, it worked for Obama.
The Republicans did not pick this lady in a GOP Primary, she was picked by 11 Upstate County Republican Chairmen (no election).
