A country the size of the Lower 48 that has the population of the Tri State Area.My hunch is that there are plenty of decent,skilled people from the US,Canada,the UK and Ireland among other countries that would love to live in Australia.Add to that skilled people from other English speaking places....Hong Kong and India,for example...and they could easily solve any skilled labor issues they might have.

The firm’s CEO Richard Leupen declared that the shortage has been brought about as a result of the tightening of the business visa rules. He says this has coincided with the company’s reduction in training programmes for staff in response to the recession.

Soooo......they eliminate their training programs to train skilled workers due to the recession, and then blame their government for failing to approve visas for more foreign workers? Do I get that right?
